The property is one of the loveliest we have encountered on this trip to the UK. However it began on a very sour, unexpected and uncalled for note of unwelcome from the receptionist we came to identify as Hayley. She was on the plus one side of being rude and curt towards my husband checking us in, citing “the information is in the room” to 3 of his questions regarding the spa, breakfast and check out. How inconsiderate of us to bother her? Not withstanding (both my husband and I are 5star property hoteliers in Asia/Pacific) the hotel is exquisite in its interiors, facilities and sense of “arrival” for all guests there. Mr/Mrs Nelson, you should be extremely proud of this rare and precious gem you lovingly share with Cheshire. The pool and spa areas were of a surprisingly high standard we did not expect. Similarly on the flip side, we were taken aback as was the cold and disengaged receptionist at the spa counter. This property clearly offers so much more in the physical and aesthetics aspects of hospitality than in the personal and human interaction part of it. Breakfast was outstanding in all it offerings. Both the restaurant and the Tavern were wonderful dining venues with a delightful menu offering. The saving grace to our overall memory of our stay was lovely Imogen checking us out and being everything we know what hospitality is all about: warm, genuine, kind and friendly.

The bedrooms were outstanding, particularly the superior double room. They had all the facilities you could need and were very comfortable and well designed. They gave me inspiration for my own bedroom. The superior room was beautifully finished and very well styled. The Palm Court restaurant is fantastic. The food was amazing and the hotel clearly have some very good chefs. The design of the restaurant as well is perfect for a feeling of class and comfort. The live piano music perfectly fitted the restaurant and had been clearly thought about to add to the ambiance. It's nice to see restaurant owners that think about the importance of all the senses for a complete dining experience. The breakfast options were vast and great. You could be as healthy or unhealthy as you want and still get a very complete meal. Serving it in the Palm Court restaurant meant getting to experience the wonderful space again. The reception staff, while extremely busy, were as efficient and helpful as they possibly could be. The spa area was wonderful and very relaxing and the staff were very accommodating, given they were clearly busy with a wedding on the day we were there.

Lovely decor and very spacious room. Great bathroom with separate bath and wet room. Loved having a TV above the bath to relax in. The hotel itself is very nice and clean with great decor. The two restaurants were very good with great food in the Nelson and the. Plenty to choose from at breakfast buffet I the Palm Court. The spa facilities were very good, maybe looking a little tatty around the edges but still very good. My wife had a massage and said it was probably one if the best ones she's had and the lady clearly knew exactly what to do. Overall we didn't want to leave and just felt very relaxed.

Absolutely stunning venue. Gorgeous room and delightful staff who went out of their way to make us feel right at home as well as being kind enough to pop a little treat in our room for my partner’s birthday! My partner had a 70 minute long full body massage and said it was by far the best he’d ever had. The room was massive and very well appointed and the bar / breakfast room was beautifully decorated.

Josephine

The hotel is finished to a lovely standard, especially for the price. The facilities at the hotel are good. Beds were comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The food at Nelsons is really nice and reasonably priced. The grounds around the hotel are beautiful. There was a lovely calming smell around the hotel which I'm assuming came from the spa area.
